AHS Students:
As we begin the month of November I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of the P.O.W.E.R. trait of the month: Optimism. At the beginning of the school year when we met as classes in the Auditorium we discussed the foundational values of our school, which included the respect of others. Part of being optimistic here at AHS is making our school a better place by using positive language to support and encourage your classmates. The use of any language that demeans, insults, harasses or intimidates anyone is not tolerated in our school. We ask that all students take the initiative to be willing participants in the solution and not part of the problem. Our school is a place where students should come and feel welcomed in order to be as successful as they can be. Our school has a very diverse population of many different aspects of life, and all students have a right to come to AHS every day without the fear of being insulted or put down for just being who they are. In order for our school to be the very best it can be, we need every student to have a positive impact on themselves and others. As we discussed back in September, we expect our students to respect their classmates and maintain a positive tone when interacting with their peers at all times. There is P.O.W.E.R. in having an optimistic attitude while at AHS!
