FROM THE DEAN'S OFFICE:
As we move into the months of March and April (yes, believe it or not it is actually March out there), we will be focusing on the “Excellence” aspect of POWER. Excellence is what we should all be striving for at Alpena High School, and establishing a personal expectation of excellence now sets us up for success once we leave the halls of Alpena High School. Excellence is not something that is “done”, it is a state of mind. Setting an expectation of excellence not only allows us to achieve more personally, but also allows those around us to achieve more. But in order to create a mindset of excellence, we need to determine what excellence actually means to us. Take a second and ask yourself what excellence means to you. Do you envision your own expectation of excellence or do you think of someone else that models excellence? In all honesty, that can be a very difficult question to answer. I could give you the dictionary definition, but what does this really tell us about excellence? I’d rather provide you with something much more meaningful. Over the course of the next two months, I will be highlighting groups and individuals that have strived to achieve excellence in what they do. Some examples will be from Alpena High School, and others will be from outside our school. The hope is that you will be able to use these examples to help set your own expectation of excellence and then work towards that same level of achievement. Stay tuned!
